Maid Cafe Simulator officially lists Steam Cloud, but its public store page does not state a dependable Windows or macOS save path. Protect progress through the game’s own slots and Steam synchronization first. When you need a local backup, discover the folder on the machine that actually wrote the save, verify it by timestamp and reversible testing, and copy the complete candidate directory while the game is closed.
Make an in-game checkpoint first
Open base-game AppID 3232690, create or update a clearly identifiable save slot, and note the in-game day, café state, and real-world time. Return to the title screen and quit normally. Wait for Steam to finish its synchronization status before copying anything.
If you use a Demo save, keep the [Demo]-marked source until the Full Release has loaded and advanced it successfully. Demo AppID 4416560 is a separate application, so its files and Cloud records should not be assumed to share the base game’s local folder.
Use Steam Cloud as a sync signal
Steam Cloud can move supported save data between machines, but it is not a versioned backup you should blindly overwrite. Before changing computers, launch Steam on the source machine, let synchronization finish, then check the destination machine’s Cloud status before opening the game.
If Steam shows a conflict, compare machine name and timestamp. Choose only when you can connect one copy to the known in-game checkpoint. Do not alternate launches on both computers while the conflict remains unresolved.
Discover the local folder on Windows
Close the game and Steam synchronization first. Use the operating system’s recent-file search or a trusted file monitor to identify directories changed at the exact checkpoint time. Limit the search to your user profile and Steam-related application-data locations rather than scanning or editing the entire drive.
Treat any third-party path as a candidate, not a guaranteed location. Confirm that the directory changes after a new harmless in-game save and that its files remain stable while the game is closed. Copy it before opening or modifying individual files.
Discover the local folder on macOS
The base-game listing supports Apple-silicon macOS. Quit the game and wait for Steam before checking recently modified user Library application-support, preferences, or container data associated with the game or engine. Finder may hide the user Library by default, so reveal it through the normal Go menu rather than changing system permissions.
As on Windows, verify the folder by controlled timestamp changes from a known slot. Do not assume that a Windows path, filename, capitalization rule, or Cloud behavior applies unchanged to macOS.
Cloud conflict
Stop launching the game and map each timestamp to a known machine and café state.
Several candidate folders
Create one harmless slot update, quit normally, and compare which directory changed.
Demo and Full Release
Keep both products distinct and preserve the Demo-marked source until the base game advances.
Restore needed
Back up the current state first, disconnect conflicting sync, and restore one complete known-good directory.
Restore without losing the newest copy
Make a second backup of the current local candidate before restoring an older one. Close the game, prevent Steam Cloud from immediately replacing the test copy, and restore the complete directory rather than mixing individual files from different dates. Launch once and inspect the slot before allowing another machine to sync.
If the restored slot is wrong, quit without saving, return the pre-restore backup, and reassess the path. Do not edit binary or unknown save data to repair a story flag; use Main Quest Not Progressing for reversible in-game checks.
Keep a recoverable backup set
Name each backup with date, platform, source machine, AppID, and a short café-state note. Keep at least one copy outside the live save directory. After major story progress, Demo transfer, or a large layout change, create a fresh known checkpoint and retire only backups you have successfully identified.
The official Steam page confirms Steam Cloud support. Exact local paths remain platform- and build-dependent until reproduced on the relevant machine, so a verified timestamp and restore test are safer than a copied path that may point to the wrong product or user.
